Pamela Wattenmaker
I am a life-long artist.
To be able create and experiment in all mediums is truly my happy place.
I collect the birch bark from the forest floors in Newport and Peninsula State Park as I walk and lose myself in thought.
Every walk is stunningly beautiful and always different with the light filtering from above. Each season has its own beauty.
I try to capture the feeling I get when I am out walking in Door County.
The series of "Ladies of the Forest" is a combination of my love of the Birch trees and experimenting with texture and color.
Each artwork in this series starts with layers of acrylic paint color applied with brushes and rollers. Ghost trees are added incorporating the background colors and texture. The main trees are created by layering wax paper with acrylic paint, glue, birch bark and a touch of metal leaf.
I use a resin pour on various pieces to add an additional layer of depth.
