Susan Richter O’Connell
Susan began her life in the arts as a dancer. After moving to Sheboygan, WI she transitioned from dancer into her current vocation of metalsmith. Susan founded the metalsmith teaching program at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center over a decade ago and continues to teach classes while making work in her home studio for art fairs and galleries.
Many of the found materials in her work come from beach combing along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Though beach stones are a mainstay of her work, she is constantly evolving and surprising with new elements and techniques.
