Kimberly Beck is a fine artist working from her studio in Lake Forest, Illinois.
A native of northern California, Kimberly Beck grew up in a rural community surrounded by the natural world. After earning her undergraduate degree in English Literature at The University of Michigan, she studied drawing and illustration at The California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA, and specialized in drawing birds and animals, working in watercolor and pencil. She began a career in illustration, creating art for posters, greeting cards, t-shirts and even umbrellas for The Nature Company and other print companies, selling her work nationally.
After a hiatus to raise a family, Kimberly is painting full-time again, working in oil and developing a body of representational work that emphasizes her commitment to good design, direct observation, a sensitive palette and a passion for recording the natural world. She paints regularly at the Palette & Chisel Academy of Art in Chicago, and has recently begun painting figurative and floral subjects as well as the birds for which she is best known.
For the past three years, Kimberly’s paintings have been juried into the prestigious international “Birds in Art” exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum of Art in Wausau, Wisconsin, and her work has hung in both National and Regional exhibits of the Oil Painters of America. She is currently represented by The Eisele Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, Fine Line Designs in Door County, Wisconsin and Lake Forest Frame &Design in Lake Forest, Illinois.
