My body of work depicts personal symbols as I decipher the world as it comes to my way. The interiors can be a symbol for my interior; my subconscious swims with a love of children (often showing up as party hats-moments of intense happiness), deep respect for the soul (the image of the crow), and the dichotomy of natural things in a man-made world (like a bird’s nest on a chair). The items begin to play together creating for me a narrative, imagined or real, and seem purposeful in the space through careful addition and subtraction of other visual information. They are not meant to be heavy, they are lighthearted attempts at channeling thoughts and feelings. A body of work for me is very much a visual diary of my life within a timeframe.

The fragile egg is strong enough to hold new life. The hand-woven basket made of grass and reeds is strong enough to hold ten times its weight. An apple is sweet for a moment but the seeds can fill an orchard. The natural world is simple, yet powerful, and it is here that I find the inspiration for my latest body of work.
