Gene Reineking
About the artist:
Gene lives and works in the glacial moraine country of central Wisconsin.
Through his work he hopes to share thoughts and feelings about the beauty of our natural world. If you can feel the movement of a bird or if you need to trace the curve of a bowl with your hand, then that work is a success.
About the work:
Each sculpture and bowl is one of a kind, designed and executed by the artist.
Gene uses hand-held power tools to cut, grind, and shape unique pieces of burl wood. Many of the designs are inspired by the creatures that inhabit the woodlands, lakes, and streams that surround his studio.
Beautifully figured burls come from local woodlots as well as from trees growing in Oregon and California.
